In 1984, a small group of believers led by layman began meeting at a home, and later felt impressed to plant a new church in Katy. Upon receiving the approval from their denomination, Mason Road Assembly of God was launched.

In 1991, after a few years renting and meeting at a storefront, the young congregation took a bold step of faith, purchased a burned out former used car lot and transformed it into a church.  Later, a new pastor arrived and the church continued to grow. Subsequently, they built the current sanctuary on the same 1.6 acre property, and changed their name to Family Life Assembly of God (FLAG).

In 2004, the Lord brought Pastor Albert & Rebekah Cortez to serve as Senior Pastors. Since then FLAG has experienced gracious growth, both numerically and spiritually, with many souls saved and lives transformed. Also, new ministries have been birthed, pastoral staff added, missions program greatly expanded, and a Spanish-language church launched.

In 2008, FLAG purchased 8 beautiful acres of undeveloped land in a strategic location in south Katy, minutes from the Grand Parkway. Despite a slumping economy, FLAG was able to fully pay off the property in a little over 4 years. To the glory of God!

On Saturday morning, December 19, 2015 a large crowd of excited FLAG members gathered together on this property to celebrate the groundbreaking of their new church facilities.

FLAG celebrated the grand opening of Phase One of their new church building on Sunday, January 29, 2017.

The new facilities features a 400 seat sanctuary, office suite, nursery suite, children’s church, youth room/chapel, kitchen and numerous classrooms. There is also be an outdoor playground and plenty of parking.

Meanwhile, FLAG is looking forward to continue impacting the Greater Katy Area with the precious gospel of Jesus Christ.
